AMICO – Assistenza Medicale In COntextual awareness
The AMICO project aims to create an infrastructure, named “instrumented environment”, made of the home environment and of the person both suitably equipped with sensors, a telemedicine services platform (in the Internet of Things) and a Robot as a mediator / master between the person, the surrounding environment and the outside environment.

SoBigData – SoBigData Research Infrastructure
SoBigData created the Social Mining & Big Data Ecosystem: a research infrastructure (RI) providing an integrated ecosystem for ethic-sensitive scientific discoveries and advanced applications of social data mining on the various dimensions of social life, as recorded by “big data”.

AUTOWARE built three distinct pillars to form a multi-sided ecosystem for Industry 4.0 solutions. (1) leverage a reference architecture acting as a glue that will attract potential users and developers to a friendly ecosystem for business development and service development. (2) To leverage a number of SME enablers to ease cognitive autonomous systems. (3) To leverage digital automation investments.

The ESPRIT project developed a purpose-built, light weight L6 category electric vehicle that can be stacked together to gain space. Thanks to pioneering coupling systems, up to 8 ESPRIT vehicles can be nested together in a road train, 7 being towed for an efficient redistribution of fleets and a smartly-balanced and cost efficient transport system.

The MOTO project designed, implemented, and evaluated a new network architecture in support of dynamic traffic offloading strategies to relieve a congested 4G/LTE network. Going far beyond infrastructure-based offloading approaches, MOTO explored an additional layer of disruptive offloading protocols that make use of direct D2D communications. MOTO has been recognized by the European Commission as one of the precursors of the 5G research area.

EINS coordinated and integrated European research initiatives aimed at achieving a deeper multidisciplinary understanding of the development of the Internet as a societal and technological artefact, whose evolution is increasingly interwined with that of human societies. EINS brought together research institutions focusing on network engineering, computation, complexity, security, trust, mathematics, physics, sociology, game theory, economics, political sciences, humanities, law, energy, transport, artistic expression, and any other relevant social and life sciences.

The SOCIALNETS project enabled wireless devices to socially network with each other in order to disseminate information without the need to maintain end-to-end connectivity. Exploiting opportunistic networks and human social behaviour, it developed networking solution for data sharing and communications in pervasive networking environments.

This project was one of the European pioneer projects investigating the potentialities of the Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET’s) paradigm. Specifically, the project defined and developed a metropolitan area, self-organizing, and totally wireless network that we called Mobile Metropolitan Ad hoc Network (MobileMAN).
